The NC Envirothon is an exciting natural resource education program designed to challenge students in an interactive, outdoor competition where middle and high school teams (consisting of 3-5 students) are tested in areas of Wildlife, Forestry, Aquatic Ecology, Soils and Land Use and Current Environmental Issues. Students participate in the SP Envirothon (area competition), with the top 7 teams going on to the state competition. The top team at state goes on to represent the state in the North American/ international contest.
The Goals and Objectives of Envirothon:
*to promote a desire to learn more about the natural environment, our natural resources & solving natural resource problems.
*to promote stewardship of our natural resources.
*to develop critical thinking skills, cooperative problem solving skills, & decision making skills of students in the protection, management & wise use of our natural resources.
*to provide students with experience in environmentally oriented activities to enable them to become environmentally aware, action oriented citizens.
